Biography

Hayley Maritza Serpa is a PhD student in the History of Science and Medicine Program and the Ethnicity, Race, and Migration Program. She is invested in Indigenous feminist critiques of the use of population as a scientific category and organizing logic, especially in the histories of anthropology, biology, demography, and ecology in Peru, the Andes-Amazon, and the global South. Before starting her doctoral studies, Hayley served as Project Coordinator for a community archives and oral history project at the University of Miami Libraries in collaboration with migrant Florida farmworkers. She is a graduate of the accelerated B.A./M.A. program in History at Florida International University.
