Ansley Roche, MD, has been appointed medical director for NP15 at Yale New Haven Hospital (YNHH), a specialized inpatient unit serving patients at Smilow Cancer Hospital.

As a head and neck surgeon and associate professor of surgery (otolaryngology) at Yale School of Medicine (YSM), Roche will help lead efforts to improve teamwork across NP15’s care teams and make the inpatient experience better for patients and families facing complex cancer conditions. The role focuses on working closely with nursing leaders and frontline staff to support clear communication, smooth operations, and high-quality, patient-centered care.

Roche will report jointly to leaders across the cancer service line, YSM Department of Surgery, and YNHH executive leadership.

In the role, Roche will serve as a physician leader for quality, safety, and operational improvement initiatives on NP15 while helping foster accountability, professionalism, and coordinated team-based care across the unit.
