Yale Cancer Center Researchers and Trainees Present at 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting

Scientists and trainees from Yale Cancer Center attended the 2026 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting in Chicago, held May 29–June 2, to showcase groundbreaking research from Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital. The largest and most influential gathering of oncology professionals in the world, the ASCO meeting fosters critical connections and collaborations that shape the future of cancer care.

During the meeting, four trainees were honored with the Conquer Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award including, Caroline Richburg, MD, Paul Stockhammer, MD, PhD, Rajal Sharmat, MD, PhD, and Krishna Iyer, MD, PhD. Lajos Pusztai, MD, received the Giant of Cancer Care award for his work in Cancer Prevention/Genetics, and Shira Gabizon Peretz, MD, Maryam Mooghali, MD, MSc, and Amin Nassar, MD, all received ASCO Merit Awards.

ASCO Sessions

To relax and reconnect, Yale Cancer Center hosted a reception on Sunday evening for current and former oncology faculty and trainees. The event offered a welcome break from the fast pace of the ASCO meeting.

The 2026 ASCO Annual Meeting featured over 200 sessions complementing Dr. Eric Small’s Presidential theme, The Science and Practice of Translation: Improving Cancer Outcomes Worldwide. Yale Cancer Center contributed over 60 oral, educational, and poster presentations, highlighting significant advances in cancer treatment and care driven by clinical trials and translational research from Smilow Cancer Hospital.
