Yale Child Study Center (YCSC) – which serves as the Department of Child Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine – welcomes and introduces new community members on an on-going basis. All new faculty, staff, and trainees are invited to share bios and photos upon joining the department, and those who wish to participate are announced approximately monthly. This month, the department welcomes Marianne Bassing, MA, who joined the Cha Lab earlier this month, and Anthony Medina, MS, who joined the Stover Lab in mid-May.
Introducing new YCSC community members: Meet Marianne Bassing & Anthony Medina
Marianne Meyer Bassing, MA, serves as a postgraduate associate at YCSC, having joined the Cha Lab on June 1, 2025. She earned her master's degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in May 2025. Her primary research interests focus on transdiagnostic protective factors that may encourage individuals to adapt and persevere through adversity. Additionally, she is interested in investigating cognitive mechanisms—such as goal setting and motivation—that may be used as intervention targets for youth experiencing mental health challenges.
Anthony Medina, MS, joined YCSC in May as a postgraduate research associate in the Stover Lab. Prior to this, he served as a project coordinator for the RAÍCES Project at Penn State University's DREAM Lab. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fordham University and a master’s degree in general psychology from Mercy University. During his master's program, he volunteered as a graduate research assistant in a childhood maltreatment/trauma lab where his work focused on the effects of trauma on outcomes in children and adolescents. He also conducted an independent research project that investigated the effects of anxiety among student athletes, and he completed a master’s thesis that investigated positive parental behaviors and mental health among children during early childhood. He plans to pursue a doctoral degree in clinical psychology.
