Today we celebrate charge nurse Julie Russo, RN, as our Smilow Star! Julie has been a steadfast leader on the Hematology Oncology Smilow East unit since its opening in 2023. She leads her team with ease and enthusiasm every day, and is frequently recognized by patients, staff, and providers alike.
Julie embodies the core principles of nursing, including critical thinking, compassionate care, leadership, and effective communication. With the recent expansion of Smilow East, her presence has been invaluable. She seamlessly adapted to an expanded role and helped lead a successful transition into the new, larger space.
A colleague shared: “There are many young nurses and travelers who often need Julie’s assistance, and I’m glad that providers and nursing staff have someone with her experience and professionalism during this time of growth within Smilow. Thank you, Julie!”
