Since our last newsletter, we’ve made exciting progress across YBII.
We are looking forward to our first YBII Symposium on June 12, with Bruce Tromberg, director of the National Institute for Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), as the keynote speaker. The program will feature awardees from the first round of pilot grants, followed by a poster reception.
Speaking of pilot grants, after a successful first round with NIH-style peer review, we have announced our second round of funding and received many promising applications. We are looking forward to announcing the next round of recipients of the exploratory funds very soon.
Later this summer, we will host the inaugural Biomedical Imaging Technology and Translational Science (BITTS) Conference. The BITTS conference aims to bring together biomedical imaging researchers using a variety of modalities such as PET, MR, CT, optical, and ultrasound, and a wide range of organ and disease applications. BITTS was created to establish an informative, collaborative, and science-focused conference that is accessible and affordable to researchers in the US. We are accepting abstracts through June 15.
We also have a newly established Seminar Committee, and our first set of talks was a great success—thank you to everyone who participated. More seminars are coming up soon, and we hope you’ll join us.
Finally, we’re delighted to welcome many new faculty members since our last newsletter. We also realize that, given the size of the institution, many people may not know each other. Starting with this newsletter, we will be featuring three YBII members from the faculty, scientists, and staff. See the link below to become a featured member!
Sincerely,
Georges El Fakhri, PhD
