    Biography

I earned a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. In 2015, I joined Emory University as a postdoctoral fellow to build on my previous training by moving into the study of neuroinflammation-related comorbidities that aggravate outcomes in the injured brain. In 2017, I was awarded an American Heart Association Postdoctoral Fellowship to study the impact of chronic stress on microglial immune response in the ischemic brain. In 2019, I received a NARSAD Young Investigator Grant from the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation to examine the impact of status epilepticus on microglial transcriptomic changes that exacerbate brain inflammation associated with depressive-like behavior. In 2022, I joined Rangaraju's Lab and received new technical training on an innovative approach to study native state proteomes from physically unaltered cell subtypes and it subcellular compartments in vivo. Using this approach, I aim to further identify how cell-type and subcellular-specific proteomes are impacted by comorbidities which contribute to cognitive decline and increased risk of neurological and neurodegenerative diseases.
