    Overview

Aaron Bower, MD, is a neurologist specializing in the treatment of inflammatory disorders of the central nervous system.

He treats conditions including multiple sclerosis (where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves), neuromyelitis optica (which involves inflammation of the eye nerves and spinal cord), autoimmune encephalitis (where the immune system mistakenly attacks the brain, leading to swelling and dysfunction), and MOG-associated disease (a rare inflammatory disorder affecting the brain, optic nerves, and spinal cord).

"I love meeting a diverse group of patients within my practice and being fortunate enough to follow those patients over time," Dr. Bower says.

Dr. Bower's passion for neurology stems from a lifelong fascination with the brain. "I simply love the brain," he says. "Working in a field that is constantly changing with novel discoveries pushes me to continually re-evaluate what we are doing in the clinic to ensure the care we are giving is the best it can be."

An assistant professor of neurology at Yale School of Medicine, Dr. Bower received his medical degree from Wake Forest School of Medicine, followed by a residency and fellowship in neuroimmunology at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
