    On May 30, 2023, Steven Rosenberg, MD, PhD, Chief of the Surgery Branch at the National Cancer Institute presented the Paul Calabresi, MD Memorial Lectureship. The lecture was co-hosted by Dr. Roy S. Herbst, Dr. Eric Winer, and Dr. Vincent DeVita.

    Dr. Rosenberg is widely considered the father of cancer immunotherapy and pioneered the development of effective immunotherapies and gene therapies for patients with advanced cancers. His lecture was titled, "Lymphocytes as a 'Living Drug' for the Treatment of Cancer."

    The Paul Calabresi, MD Memorial Lectureship began in 2006. Dr. Paul Calabresi was an internationally recognized authority and pioneer on the clinical pharmacology of anticancer agents, and was a graduate of Yale University and Yale School of Medicine, and served on the Yale School of Medicine faculty until 1968 before going to Brown University. The Lectureship is endowed by Dr. Calabresi’s family, friends, and colleagues in his memory.
