Rajesh Tampi, MD, MS, professor adjunct of psychiatry, has been chosen to receive the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry’s (AAGP) Diversity Award.
The award, given in honor of Dr. Iqbal “Ike” Ahmed, recognizes an individual or organization involved in geriatric mental healthcare who demonstrates sensitivity to issues of diversity in aging, or who has an innovative approach or track record of service to elderly minority or under-served populations. The awardee must be involved in geriatric mental health care.
Tampi will be honored at the 2024 AAGP Annual Meeting March 15-18 in Atlanta. The theme of this year’s meeting is “Reimagining Geriatric Mental Health: Innovations to Promote the Well-being of Caregivers and Patients.”
Tampi is professor and inaugural Bhatia Family Endowed Chair in the Department of Psychiatry at Creighton University School of Medicine and Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) Health Behavioral Health Services in Omaha, Nebraska. He is past president of AAGP and completed his Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship at Yale School of Medicine.
