    Morton Named Chair-Elect of Bariatric Surgery and Devices Section of The Obesity Society

    The Obesity Society has elected John Morton, MD, MPH, MHA, as chair-elect of the Bariatric Surgery and Devices Section. This role reflects Morton's ongoing contributions to the field of metabolic and bariatric surgery and his commitment to advancing innovation, collaboration, and patient care.

    Morton serves as Chief of Bariatric & Minimally Invasive Surgery at Yale School of Medicine (YSM) and Yale New Haven Health, and as Vice Chair of Quality for YSM's Department of Surgery. He is recognized for his leadership in national organizations, and for his mentorship and dedication to developing future surgeons and clinical leaders.

    His term as chair-elect begins immediately and will run through Dec. 31, 2026. On Jan. 1, 2027, he will transition into the role of Section Chair, where he will help guide the section’s strategic direction and initiatives.
