We are pleased to announce that David Hersh, MD, PhD, has been named Director of the Yale Pediatric Ethics Program (YPEP) at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital effective October 1, 2025. Dr. Hersh is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics (pediatric hospital medicine) and has been at Yale School of Medicine since 2005. He received his MD/PHD from New York University School of Medicine and went on to complete his residency at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Dr. Hersh previously held roles as the medical director or the General Medicine/Cardiology Unit at Yale New Haven Children’s Hospital, director of the Pediatric Sub-Internship Program at Yale School of Medicine (YSM), and director of clerkships at YSM.
In this new role, Dr. Hersh will Chair the Pediatric Ethics Committee, serve as an active participant representing pediatric ethics viewpoints on hospital and health system committees, provide ethical guidance on proposed departmental and unit protocols and guidelines, and provide education on pediatric clinical ethics to medical students, advanced practice provider students, pediatric residents, fellows, and faculty.
